14 Days Family Safari - Hakuna Matata

Highlights
This 14-day privately guided holiday is perfect for families with children. It takes you to the most beautiful corners of Tanzania. You will go on a game drive in Tarangire National Park and marvel at the wealth of species in the Ngorongoro Crater. You will have a good chance of spotting the famous ‘Big Five’ and many other animals in the world-famous Serengeti! Your driver will not miss a single movement: the snoozing lions in the shade, the tortoises by the roadside, elephants, zebras, warthogs – ‘The Lion King’ sends its regards. Go hunting and berry picking with the Hadzabe Bushmen at Lake Eyasi and get to know a foreign culture. The grand finale is a beach holiday in Zanzibar.
Welcome to Tanzania! Karibu sana!
We will pick you up from Kilimanjaro Airport and take you directly to Moshi. Your accommodation is located directly on the slopes of Kilimanjaro. Agriculture is practised on the fertile soil at the foot of Kilimanjaro. The climate guarantees a plentiful supply of fruit and vegetables, which are sold in vibrant markets throughout. You will see Kilimanjaro and Mount Meru from here. This is the first stop on your trip to Tanzania. You will stay overnight in a lodge.
Today you will go on a guided tour at the foot of Mount Kilimanjaro with our hiking guide through villages, meadows and fields. You will see, for example, giant poinsettias, people working in the fields and certainly children in school uniforms on their way home. Encounters on foot at eye level with the people of Tanzania are always a heart-warming experience.
A game drive through Arusha National Park at the foot of Mount Meru takes you through a fascinating landscape of savannah and mountain forests, lakes, waterfalls and volcanic craters, where buffalo, giraffes, elephants, zebras, warthogs and antelopes can be observed. The forests are home to the black and white colobus monkeys and flocks of flamingos gather at the Momella Lakes.
On the way to Tarangire National Park, it is worth visiting the weekly market in Usa River (Wed, Thu, Sat, Sun). You then drive to Tarangire National Park, which is famous for its primeval baobabs and enormous herds of elephants. Your camp is located in an impressive setting in the national park, giraffes and elephants like to visit at night. Overnight stay in the tented camp.
Tarangire National Park is one of the most beautiful national parks in the country. Outside the rainy season, the Tarangire River, which is always full of water, magically attracts animals. But the antelopes, hippos and big cats are not actually the main attraction here; visitors linger longest with the huge herds of elephants that leisurely cross the paths of the safari vehicles. And as if that wasn’t enough, the spreading crowns of the thick baobabs form a fantastic backdrop for this animal spectacle. We leave the park in the afternoon and drive to Lake Eyasi. Overnight stay in a lodge.
Things get exciting in the morning: the Hadzabe people live completely self-sufficiently and in harmony with nature. Food is collected and hunted anew every day. You can take part in this today. Later, the children can try at using a bow and arrow.
After lunch, continue to Karatu.
Start early today, at 6.30am sharp the Descent Road opens into the crater, bathing the caldera in golden light.
Even the steep entrance into the crater is exciting! Then enjoy the whole morning in search of the Big 5. 20.000 big game animals live here in an area only 20 kilometres in diameter.
After a picnic at Lake Magadi, you will slowly make your way towards the Serengeti. The drive to Naabi Hill, the gateway to the Serengeti, takes a good two hours and takes you from 2200 metres down to a good 1000 metres above sea level. Siringit is the Maasai word for ‘vast land’. Anyone who has ever looked down on the plains from Naabi Hill knows why.
You then cross the Naabi Plains on your way to the camp centrally located near Seronera in the most beautiful evening light. The area is big cat territory. At night in the camp, you can puzzle over who is sneaking around your spacious house tent on four paws..
Serengeti shall never die!
A full day in the central Serengeti on your own schedule. Our suggestion: Start at sunrise and move your breakfast into the bush. The camp is happy to provide a refreshing coffee or tea before departure.
Return at midday for a siesta and head out again in the afternoon until the sun sets over the vast plains.
You can also stay out all day and take your lunch with you in addition to breakfast. Your guide will be guided only by your wishes, but will make personal recommendations depending on the location.
Last animal sightings on the way to the airstrip and flight to the beautiful island of Zanzibar.
We will be waiting for you at the airport and take you directly to your beach resort.
The spice island of Zanzibar – exotic, romantic, mysterious – offers you the perfect extension after your exciting safari. The former Eldorado of adventurers, explorers, traders and sailors attracts visitors with its unique cultural mix of African, Arabic, Indian and Persian influences. Kilometres of white sandy beaches and crystal-clear turquoise waters promise pure relaxation and recreation.
We are happy to organise diving or snorkelling trips, sailing trips on a ‘dhow’, a visit to a spice farm, a discovery tour of Stonetown or a visit to the colobus monkeys in Jozani forest national park. Karibu sana!
