2 Days Safari from Zanzibar

tarangire national park - Lake Manyara National Park

Highlights

Tanzania is a dream country for nature lovers! Vast savannahs, lush rainforest, imposing mountains, idyllic sandy beaches and impressive wildlife – Tanzania combines the most diverse landscapes and inspires with the cultural heritage of its inhabitants.

The grey pachyderms are at the heart of Tarangire National Park, which is also known as the “Park of the Elephants”. With its imposing baobab trees and acacias, animals crowding the waterholes in the dry season and marvellous sunsets, the national park provides that typical bush feeling.
The endless starry sky of African nights becomes an unforgettable experience in the midst of magnificent nature parks with a crackling campfire in the evening at your lodge and the sounds of the wilderness.
Not far away is Lake Manyara National Park on the East African Rift Valley. Dense, green groundwater forest and grassland surround the alkaline lake, which is a paradise for over 400 bird species and ornithologists. Alongside elephants, lions feel so at home that they climb into the treetops and relax.
Early in the morning, around 5 am, our driver will pick you up at your hotel and take you to Zanzibar airport. You will fly to Arusha on the Tanzanian mainland at around 8 am, where you can enjoy fascinating views of Tanzania’s spectacular landscapes during the flight. Perhaps you will also discover Mount Kilimanjaro with its snow-capped Uhuru peak.

Karibuni sana! Welcome to Tanzania!

We will be waiting for you at the airport exit when you arrive. After a short briefing, your safari starts through two of the most beautiful national parks in northern Tanzania.

Your first destination is Tarangire National Park, which is famous for its herds of elephants and giant baobabs (approx. 2 hours’ drive). Once you arrive at the entrance gate of the national park, you will go on an extensive game drive in the Tarangire.
The Tarangire River, which carries water all year round, attracts countless animals and offers marvellous game viewing opportunities. The park has one of the highest elephant densities in Tanzania, herds of up to 300 animals are not uncommon.
Over 100 mammal species live in the Tarangire, including giraffe, impala, lion, Cape buffalo, zebra, hartebeest, eland, dik-dik and kudu, as well as over 500 bird species, including the largest bird in the world, the Maasai ostrich. Mighty baobabs and magnificent umbrella acacias form a unique backdrop for an exciting day on safari.
Look forward to a real bush feeling!

In the afternoon we leave the park and drive to Karatu. On arrival at the lodge, you will have time to freshen up before ending the day with dinner under the stars and a good night’s sleep.

Meals: 1x picnic lunch (lunchbox) 1x dinner
After a restful night’s sleep, today is the “Day of the Lions”. Enjoy an early breakfast before checking out.
On an extended game drive, you will immerse yourself in the unique atmosphere of Lake Manyara. Nestled in one of the most spectacular landscapes in northern Tanzania, this park lies at the foot of the East African Rift Valley. With its lush groundwater forests, open grasslands and unspoilt lake shores, the park is a scenic gem. Two-thirds of the park is taken up by the alkaline lake, which is populated by tens of thousands of flamingos during the rainy season. A remarkable abundance of animals can be found here in a very small area. Large herds of buffalo, wildebeest and zebra congregate on these green plains.
The wide-spreading branches of the acacia trees are the favoured habitat of the legendary tree lions. Elephants, giraffes, hippos and numerous antelope species can also be observed here. Lake Manyara is also a bird paradise – over 400 species are represented here.
Around midday, enjoy your packed lunch in the middle of the park and return to Arusha airport. Your heart and your camera are full of memories of your African safari adventure.
Your eventful safari ends here. At around 4.30 pm you take the flight back to Zanzibar. Our driver will pick you up at Zanzibar airport and take you back to your hotel.
