ITINERARY

Karibuni Tanzania! Welcome to Tanzania! In the morning you will fly from Zanzibar (approx. 8 a.m., flight time approx. 60 minutes) to the mainland of Tanzania to Arusha Airport and can already enjoy fascinating views of the spectacular landscapes of Tanzania during the flight. You may also discover Mount Kilimanjaro with its snow-capped Uhuru peak.
We will be waiting for you at the airport exit when you arrive. After a short briefing, your 5-day safari through the national parks of northern Tanzania begins.
Your first destination is Tarangire National Park (approx. 2 hours’ drive), which is famous for its herds of elephants and giant baobabs. Once you arrive at the entrance gate of the national park, you will go on an extensive game drive in Tarangire.
The Tarangire River, which carries water all year round, attracts countless animals and you can do some marvellous game viewing here. The park has one of the highest elephant densities in Tanzania and herds of more than 30 animals are not uncommon. Over 100 mammal species live in Tarangire, including giraffe, impala, lion, Cape buffalo, zebra, hartebeest, eland, dik dik and kudu, as well as over 500 bird species, including the largest bird in the world, the Maasai ostrich. Mighty baobabs and magnificent umbrella acacias form a unique backdrop for an exciting day on safari.
Look forward to a real bush feeling!

In the afternoon we leave the park and drive to Karatu. On arrival at the lodge, you will have time to freshen up before ending the day with dinner under the stars and a good night’s sleep.

Meals: 1x picnic packed lunch, 1x dinner
The safari vehicle takes you on an exploration tour to the famous Ngorongoro Crater. (the journey from Karatu takes approx. 40 minutes)
First enjoy the fantastic view from the crater rim over the huge caldera from a vantage point before descending a steep track to the crater floor.

The Ngorongoro Crater is a unique wildlife paradise and is one of the seven natural wonders of Africa. On a safari here, you can observe almost all of Africa’s most important animals in just a few hours. In addition to lions, wildebeests, zebras, buffaloes, elephants and gazelles, there is also a good chance of spotting the rare black rhino. The crater itself is home to over 20,000 large animals, which can leave or enter the crater freely. However, most of them stay here permanently as there is no shortage of water or food. A true natural wonder that can only be found in Africa.
After the morning game drive, you take a break to enjoy your packed lunch at a picnic spot. After lunch, you continue the game drive into the afternoon, leaving the crater and travelling into the Serengeti National Park. You will then reach the seemingly endless plains of the southern Serengeti. Covering an area of almost 15,000 square kilometres, the Serengeti is dominated by wide open plains with an abundance of game. You head into the heart of the Serengeti and on the way you can already observe many wild animals in the incredibly wide plains and at the kopjes. You reach your lodge, where a delicious dinner under the Serengeti’s starry sky and a well-earned night’s sleep await you.

Meals: 1x breakfast, 1x picnic packed lunch, 1x dinner
Today you go on a full-day game drive in the Serengeti. Undoubtedly the most famous wildlife sanctuary in the world, the Serengeti offers unrivalled natural beauty and an astounding variety of wildlife. The Serengeti is home to the largest wild concentration of ungulates in Africa such as wildebeest, antelope, buffalo and zebra, which are regularly spotted in the vast plains of the Serengeti. Lions, cheetahs, leopards and hyenas are also ever-present and regularly patrol the open savannah. African wild dogs hunting in packs are a speciality.

A safari in the Serengeti is one of the most untamed wilderness experiences in Africa. The Serengeti has become famous for the “Great Migration”, the seasonal migration of the animal herds – the largest animal show on earth! In search of water and grazing land, millions of wildebeest, zebra and various gazelles cross the entire Serengeti from the south northwards to the Masai Mara and back again in a seasonal cycle. The herds instinctively follow the rain and are on a never-ending journey.
At the end of the day, enjoy a good meal and listen to the sounds of the wilderness.

Meals: 1x breakfast, 1x picnic packed lunch, 1x dinner

Today you will go on a morning game drive in the Serengeti to explore the diversity of wildlife. The park is home to the Big Five all year round and has a particularly dense lion population. Whole prides can often be seen resting on a hill or a single male in the branches of a tree. The savannah grassland is also an ideal hunting ground for cheetahs, as it offers these fast predators ideal conditions for undisturbed hunting. Giraffes, impalas and elands use the grasslands to graze as they try to escape the leopards stalking them. Lunch as a picnic in the wilderness. After lunch we leave the national park.
Your next destination is a Maasai village. During the visit you will have the opportunity to mingle, chat and interact with the inhabitants. Your guide will help you communicate and translate into the Maasai language, Kimaasai, as the Maasai themselves do not speak any other languages. As you walk through the village with your guide, you will learn more about the culture of the people. This also includes a lesson in traditional Maasai medicine and the opportunity to taste the local Maasai tea. You will also have the opportunity to visit a Maasai house.
We drive back to Karatu. On arrival at the lodge, you will have time to freshen up before ending the day with dinner under the stars and a good night’s sleep.

Meals: 1x breakfast, 1x picnic packed lunch, 1x dinner
An extensive game drive allows you to immerse yourself in the unique atmosphere of Lake Manyara. Nestled in one of the most spectacular landscapes in northern Tanzania, this park lies at the foot of the East African Rift Valley. With its lush groundwater forests, open grasslands and unspoilt lake shores, the park is a scenic gem. Two thirds of the park is taken up by the alkaline lake, which is populated by tens of thousands of flamingos during the rainy season. A remarkable abundance of animals can be found here in a very small area. Large herds of buffalo, wildebeest and zebra congregate on these green plains. The wide-spreading branches of the acacia trees are the favourite haunts of the legendary tree lions. Elephants, giraffes, hippos and numerous antelope species can also be spotted. Lake Manyara is also a birdwatcher’s paradise – over 400 species are represented here.
You enjoy your picnic lunch in the park before we leave the national park and drive back to Arusha to the airport, where your eventful safari ends.
You take the afternoon flight to Zanzibar (approx. 16.30 hrs).
Our driver will meet you at Zanzibar airport and take you back to your hotel.
