The Rongai Route is a popular choice for climbing Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania. It starts at 1,800 meters (5,906 feet) and takes six to seven days to complete. The route follows a circular path up to Gilman’s Point at 5,685 meters (18,649 feet), passing through Simba Camp at 2,625 meters (8,641 feet) and Kibo Hut at 4,730 meters (15,519 feet), before descending via Marangu Gate.The Rongai Route offers stunning views of Kilimanjaro’s scenery, including glaciers and ice fields, as well as diverse vegetation zones from rainforest to alpine desert. The route requires good physical conditioning due to the steep ascents, descents, and long hiking days. ITINERARY

Start your trek from Rongai Gate. After registering at the Kilimanjaro National Park gate, begin your hike through fields and forests. Look out for wildlife and enjoy the lush surroundings. After a 3-4 hour hike, you will reach Simba Camp. You will stay in tents. All meals are included.

Today, hike from Simba Camp to Second Cave. The trail leads through moorland with stunning views of Kibo and the eastern ice fields. The hike takes 5-6 hours. You will stay in tents. All meals are included.

Hike from Second Cave to Kikelewa Camp. The path takes you through the moorland and into the alpine desert. Enjoy the changing landscapes and views of the mountain. The hike takes 5-6 hours. You will stay in tents. All meals are included.

Climb from Kikelewa Camp to Mawenzi Tarn. The trail is steeper and more challenging, but offers beautiful views of Mawenzi Peak. The hike takes 3-4 hours. You will stay in tents. All meals are included.

Today, hike from Mawenzi Tarn to Kibo Hut. The trail is rocky and steep, leading you to your base camp before the summit attempt. Spend the afternoon resting and preparing for the final ascent. The hike takes 5-6 hours. You will stay in tents. All meals are included.

Begin your final ascent to Uhuru Peak around midnight. Reach Gilman’s Point at sunrise, then continue to Uhuru Peak, the highest point in Africa. After enjoying the views, descend back to Kibo Hut for breakfast and rest, then continue down to Horombo Hut. The ascent takes 6-8 hours, and the descent takes 4-6 hours. You will stay in huts. All meals are included.

On your last day, hike back down to Marangu Gate. The trail descends through the rainforest. At the gate, your guide will arrange your certificates, and our driver will take you back to your hotel for a hot shower and celebration. You will stay at Ngare Sero Mountain Lodge. All meals are included
