Where Are the Usambara Mountains Located?

The Usambara Mountains are located in northeastern Tanzania, close to the border with Kenya and not far from the Indian Ocean. They form part of the famous Eastern Arc Mountains, one of the oldest mountain ranges in Africa. Thanks to their altitude, the Usambaras enjoy a cool and pleasant climate all year round, making them an ideal destination for hiking and nature-based holidays.

Easily reachable from cities such as Arusha, Moshi, and Tanga, the Usambara Mountains are a perfect addition to a safari or beach holiday – or a destination on their own for travelers seeking authentic experiences away from mass tourism.
