Nyerere National Park, formerly part of the renowned Selous Game Reserve, is one of Africa’s largest and most untouched wildlife destinations, covering over 30,000 square kilometers.
Dominated by the mighty Rufiji River – the largest river system in East Africa – the park offers diverse ecosystems that support an incredible abundance of wildlife. It is especially famous for its large elephant populations, rare African wild dogs, and rich predator presence.

On Day 1, you will be picked up from your hotel and transferred to Zanzibar Airport for your scheduled flight to the Mtemere Airstrip in Nyerere National Park. Upon arrival, your professional safari guide will warmly welcome you and transfer you to your lodge for check-in and a short briefing.
After settling in, you will head out for your first exciting game drive in this vast and wildlife-rich park, where you can expect to see elephants, lions, giraffes, antelopes, and many other species. You will enjoy a packed lunch in the bush, followed by an afternoon game drive to further explore the area. In the evening, you will return to the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.
On Day 2, you will start your morning with a guided walking safari, offering a unique opportunity to experience the wilderness of Nyerere National Park on foot and observe wildlife in a more natural and intimate way. Accompanied by experienced and knowledgeable guides, you will explore the rich flora and fauna of the area while learning about the ecosystem.
After the walk, you will return to the lodge for breakfast before continuing your adventure with a boat safari along the Rufiji River. This relaxing activity allows you to spot hippos, crocodiles, and a wide variety of bird species from the water. Following lunch at the lodge, you will be transferred to the airstrip for your return flight to Zanzibar, bringing your unforgettable safari experience to an end.
