ITINERARY
Karibuni sana! Welcome to Tanzania!
Today your journey to the mainland of Tanzania starts! Our driver will pick you up from your hotel early in the morning and drive you to Zanzibar airport. You will fly from Zanzibar (approx. 8 a.m., flight time approx. 60 minutes) to Arusha Airport and can already enjoy fascinating views of the spectacular landscapes of Tanzania during the flight. Perhaps you will also discover Mount Kilimanjaro with its snow-capped Uhuru peak.
We will be waiting for you at the airport exit when you arrive. After a short briefing with your German-speaking safari guide, your 2-day safari through the beautiful Tarangire National Park in northern Tanzania will begin.
We have about a 2-hour drive to Tarangire National Park, which is famous for its elephant herds and giant baobabs. On the way you can relax, your guide will make a stop at a fruit stand on the way to spoil you with fresh delicacies.
Once you arrive at the entrance gate of the national park, you will go on an extensive game drive in the Tarangire. The Tarangire River, which carries water all year round, attracts countless animals and offers marvellous game viewing opportunities. The park has one of the highest elephant densities in Tanzania, with herds of up to 300 animals.
Over 100 mammal species live in the Tarangire, including giraffe, impala, lion, Cape buffalo, zebra, hartebeest, eland, dik-dik and kudu, as well as over 500 bird species, including the largest bird in the world, the Maasai ostrich.
Mighty baobabs and magnificent umbrella acacias form a unique backdrop for an exciting day on safari. Look forward to a real bush feeling!
We have lunch, consisting of a picnic packed lunch, in the middle of nature. We continue our game drive into the afternoon and then drive to your accommodation. You will spend the night in a Tented Lodge in the national park in the middle of nature.
After your arrival at the lodge, you will have time to freshen up. A briefing from the hot air balloon company will be arranged for you at the lodge to discuss the details of the morning ahead before you end the day with dinner under the stars and a good night’s sleep.

Ascend with the sunrise for a unique experience!
Your balloon safari adventure starts very early in the morning before the sun rises. A vehicle from the balloon company will pick you up at your accommodation, our German-speaking guide will accompany you and take you to the take-off point, where you can watch the final preparations for your balloon flight live.
On arrival, your pilot will give you a warm welcome, familiarise you with the necessary safety precautions and explain what to expect at the moment. Depending on the weather conditions, departure is scheduled for 06:30.
You will still have time to enjoy a hot Tanzanian coffee and homemade biscuits at your leisure.
As you board, the basket of the balloon lies on its side, only to be erected again shortly before take-off.
upright again shortly before take-off. Shortly after leaving the solid ground beneath your feet, you will most likely experience a fantastic African sunrise (weather permitting).
During the balloon flight, you will marvel at the vast plains of the Tarangire from an uninterrupted bird’s eye view. The pilot will try to spot the wildlife and will lower the balloon to give you a better view. He may also raise the balloon higher to speed up or change direction, always to get the best view.
The journey usually takes about an hour, depending on the weather. A hot cup of coffee is also served during the journey. The landing depends largely on the landscape and wind speeds. The basket may bounce a few times before the balloon comes to a halt and/or falls over sideways, but usually the landing is as soft and smooth as the ride itself.
Once you have disembarked, a traditional champagne toast is made while the pilot tells you how this custom came about after the balloon ride.
To round off an unforgettable morning, you enjoy an exclusive champagne breakfast, where your pilot gives a short speech and invites you to a luxuriously laid table in the middle of the bush.
After your “Out-of-Africa-Breakfast” you will receive a certificate for your successful balloon flight and we will be waiting for you at our safari jeep to share your exciting experiences.
Freshly fortified, we still have some time to discover the wildlife from the safari jeep atmosphere. We leave Tarangire National Park at midday and drive back to Arusha to the airport, where your exciting safari ends. You take the afternoon flight (approx. 16.30 hrs) back to Zanzibar.
Our driver will meet you at Zanzibar airport and take you back to your hotel.
Meals: 1x picnic packed lunch
