Safari & Beach

Moshi - Tarangire Nationalpark - Ngorongoro Crater -
Serengeti Nationalpark – Zanzibar

Highlights

Imagine standing on the open plains of the Serengeti, the sun melting into the horizon in fiery shades of gold and crimson as wildebeest thunder past in the distance. Picture yourself sipping freshly brewed coffee on the lush slopes of Kilimanjaro, where waterfalls tumble into emerald pools. Envision waking to the sounds of lions roaring far away, or relaxing on a palm-fringed Zanzibar beach while the turquoise Indian Ocean laps at your toes.

This is more than a holiday – it’s a story you will carry for a lifetime. Over the next two weeks, you’ll journey deep into Tanzania’s most iconic national parks – Tarangire, Ngorongoro Crater, and the legendary Serengeti – encountering incredible wildlife and awe-inspiring landscapes at every turn. You’ll connect with local cultures, learning the secrets of Tanzanian coffee, the rhythm of village life, and the rich history of Zanzibar’s spice trade.

After days of thrilling safari adventures, the pace slows on the spice island of Zanzibar. Here, time is measured by the tides and the setting sun. Stroll through historic Stonetown, explore spice plantations, swim with tropical fish, and sail the ocean on a traditional dhow. End each day in handpicked lodges and beachfront retreats where the night sky is ablaze with stars.

This is your journey – your safari – your Africa. And it begins now.

Your adventure starts as we greet you with a warm “Karibu Sana” at Kilimanjaro International Airport. As we drive an hour to the charming town of Moshi, you’ll pass through lush landscapes with Mount Meru on one side and, if the clouds permit, the snow-capped crown of Mount Kilimanjaro on the other.

Moshi, known as the base camp for Kilimanjaro climbers, has a vibrant yet relaxed atmosphere. Settle into your lodge, then gather around a crackling campfire for a delicious welcome dinner. The African night sky above, with its dazzling spread of stars, will be your first taste of the magic to come.

After breakfast, your guide will take you up Kilimanjaro’s fertile slopes to the picturesque village of Materuni, perched at 1,800 meters above sea level. The journey offers sweeping views of the valleys and forests below.

Begin with a gentle hike to Materuni Waterfall – one of the tallest and most beautiful in the region – where mist fills the air and the roar of water echoes through the green canyon. Then, dive into the traditions of the Chagga people on a local coffee farm. Learn every step of the process: from picking ripe cherries, pulping and drying the beans, to roasting over an open fire. Join in the singing and dancing as your hosts pound the roasted beans into powder and brew your cup “Chagga-style.”

A hearty local lunch rounds off the day before returning to Moshi for a relaxed evening.

This morning, the real wilderness calls. Depart Moshi for Tarangire National Park, famous for its elephant herds, towering baobabs, and the Tarangire River that sustains life even in the dry season.

On your game drive, watch for elephants cooling off in the river, graceful giraffes nibbling at treetops, and prides of lions lazing in the shade. Picnic in the heart of the park surrounded by nature’s soundtrack.

By afternoon, head to the highland town of Karatu. Your lodge offers sweeping views of the hills – perfect for enjoying dinner under the Milky Way.

Start with a breathtaking view from the Ngorongoro Crater rim before descending the steep track into the largest intact volcanic caldera in the world. This UNESCO World Heritage Site is home to an unparalleled concentration of wildlife – over 20.000 large animals. Spot zebras grazing beside wildebeest, elephants wandering through the swamps, and maybe even the elusive black rhino.

After lunch inside the crater, set your sights westward towards the Serengeti. The landscape opens into endless golden plains dotted with rocky outcrops (kopjes), perfect lookout points for big cats. Arrive at your Serengeti lodge as the sky blazes with the day’s last light, ready for a dinner surrounded by the pure sounds of the African bush.

From sunrise to sunset, the Serengeti unveils its wonders. Herds of wildebeest stretch to the horizon, zebras graze peacefully, and predators roam in search of opportunity – lions lounging on rocks, cheetahs scanning the plains, and leopards draped over tree branches.

Pause midday for a picnic in the wilderness, then continue exploring different corners of this vast ecosystem. As evening falls, return to your lodge for a night beneath the brightest stars you’ve ever seen.

Enjoy a final Serengeti game drive – every sighting feels even more special knowing it’s your last day here. On the journey back to Karatu, you may choose to stop at Olduvai Gorge, where some of the oldest human fossils were discovered.

Tonight, enjoy a peaceful dinner in the cool highland air.

Today offers a vibrant change of pace. Climb into a tuk-tuk and explore Mto wa Mbu’s lively streets. Visit banana plantations, meet local artists, and stroll through a bustling market filled with spices, fresh produce, and handmade crafts.

Join a cooking class where you’ll prepare classic Tanzanian dishes like ugali, nyama choma, and vegetable stews. Later, walk through lush rice fields and end the day with music, dance, and cultural stories. Continue to Arusha for your final mainland overnight.

Fly over the Tanzanian landscape – perhaps catching a last glimpse of Kilimanjaro – before landing in the spice-scented air of Zanzibar. Transfer to your hotel in Stonetown, where history and ocean breezes blend in a heady mix.

Step back in time with a guided exploration of the life of Princess Sayyida Salme – royal daughter, rebel, and adventurer. Follow her story through palaces, plantations, and Stonetown’s winding alleys. Then, immerse yourself in the island’s spice heritage on a plantation tour – taste cinnamon bark, vanilla pods, fresh cloves, and tropical fruits straight from the source.

The pace slows to the rhythm of the tides. White-sand beaches stretch for miles, and the turquoise sea invites you for a swim.

Choose your adventures:

  • Sail on a traditional dhow on the Safari Blue Tour- snorkel in crystal waters, enjoy fresh seafood, and relax on a remote sandbank.

  • Venture into Jozani Forest National Park to see the rare red colobus monkey in its natural habitat.

Or simply let the days drift by with beach walks, cocktails at sunset, and the warm embrace of island life.

Spend your final morning at leisure before we transfer you to Zanzibar Airport. As you fly away, the memories – thundering herds, starry skies, warm smiles – will remain forever.
