Touch down at Kilimanjaro International Airport, where your guide is ready to greet your family with a warm “Karibu!” You’ll transfer to a peaceful lodge nearby – the perfect place to relax after the flight and start soaking up the spirit of Africa. Spot your first birds, monkeys or maybe even a dik-dik right from the garden!
Today, your African adventure kicks off in style. After breakfast, set off to Tarangire National Park – a land of golden savannas, giant baobab trees and one of the highest concentrations of elephants in Tanzania. This park is a wildlife paradise with zebras, giraffes, warthogs, impalas, and even the occasional leopard. The mighty Tarangire River draws animals year-round, making for incredible game-viewing. Your overnight camp offers stunning views and is perfect for sharing safari stories around the campfire under the stars.
After an early breakfast, journey to the lush and scenic Lake Manyara National Park. Known as a filming location for early Tarzan movies, this park is full of jungle-like landscapes and teeming with wildlife. Here you’ll find large buffalo herds, playful baboons, and – if you’re lucky – lion families resting in the shade. What makes Manyara truly special is its rich birdlife: from colorful kingfishers and bee-eaters to massive storks and hornbills, it’s a birdwatcher’s paradise. In the afternoon, continue to your cozy lodge in the Ngorongoro Highlands, where you can relax with a swim or simply enjoy the sweeping views.
Wake up early for what’s sure to be one of the highlights of your journey. Today, your family descends 600 meters into the spectacular Ngorongoro Crater – a UNESCO World Heritage Site and home to nearly every major African animal species. On your crater floor safari, you may spot lions, elephants, zebras, wildebeest, buffalo, rhinos, and much more. Keep your eyes open – nature’s drama unfolds everywhere here. Enjoy a special picnic in the wild before returning to your lodge in the Highlands for the night.
After breakfast, you’ll be driven to the airport in Arusha for your flight to the paradise island of Zanzibar. A driver will be waiting to whisk you away to your beach hotel, where powdery sands and swaying palm trees welcome you to the Indian Ocean.
Zanzibar is all about relaxed family fun. Build sandcastles, swim in the warm, shallow waters (be mindful of tides and sea urchins – water shoes recommended), or take a traditional dhow boat ride. Optional kid-friendly activities include spice tours where children can touch, smell, and taste the plants, visiting the monkey-filled Jozani Forest, or exploring small fishing villages and local markets.
Snorkeling, dolphin watching, and even sailing trips can be arranged – just let us know what kind of beach adventures your family would love.
