About Ngorongoro Crater
The Ngorongoro Crater is one of the most spectacular natural wonders in Africa. Formed millions of years ago, it is the world’s largest intact volcanic caldera. The crater floor is home to over 25,000 animals, making it one of the best places in Tanzania to see the Big Five in a single day.
About Tarangire National Park
Tarangire National Park is famous for its ancient baobab trees and large elephant populations. During the dry season, the Tarangire River becomes a vital water source, attracting a high concentration of wildlife. This makes the park an excellent destination for game viewing, especially for those looking for a less crowded safari experience.
ITINERARY
Short Fly-in Safari from Zanzibar to Northern Tanzania
This 2-day safari from Zanzibar is the perfect choice for travelers who want to experience Tanzania’s incredible wildlife within a short time. This fly-in safari takes you directly from Zanzibar to the famous northern safari circuit, where you will explore two of the country’s most iconic destinations: the Ngorongoro Crater and Tarangire National Park.
By flying instead of driving, you avoid long travel times and maximize your safari experience. This itinerary is ideal for combining a beach holiday in Zanzibar with an authentic African safari adventure.
Your adventure begins with a hotel pickup in Zanzibar and a transfer to the airport. From here, you take a scenic domestic flight to Manyara Airstrip in northern Tanzania.
Upon arrival, your professional safari guide will welcome you and begin the journey toward the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. The drive itself already offers stunning views of the highlands.
You will descend into the Ngorongoro Crater, one of Africa’s most unique wildlife destinations. This natural wonder is home to a dense population of animals, including lions, elephants, buffalo, zebras, wildebeest, and – if you are lucky – the endangered black rhino.
Enjoy a picnic lunch inside the crater surrounded by breathtaking scenery before continuing your afternoon game drive.
Later in the day, you will drive to Karatu for your overnight stay at a comfortable tented lodge.
After breakfast, you will depart for Tarangire National Park, one of Tanzania’s hidden gems. The park is famous for its large elephant herds and iconic baobab trees.
During your game drive, you will explore the park’s diverse habitats and encounter a wide variety of wildlife, including giraffes, lions, zebras, antelopes, and numerous bird species. The Tarangire River attracts animals year-round, offering excellent game viewing opportunities.
After a picnic lunch in the park, you will transfer to Arusha for your return flight to Zanzibar.
Upon arrival, you will be transferred back to your hotel, marking the end of your unforgettable short safari from Zanzibar.
