ITINERARY
Karibu! Welcome to Tanzania. We will be waiting for you at the airport exit when you arrive. After a short briefing, your safari through the national parks of northern Tanzania begins.
Your first destination is Tarangire National Park, which is known for its herds of elephants and giant baobab trees. Once you arrive at the entrance gate to the national park, you will go on an extensive game drive in Tarangire. The Tarangire River, which carries water all year round, attracts countless animals and you can enjoy wonderful game viewing here. The park has one of the highest elephant densities in Tanzania and herds of more than 30 animals are not uncommon. Over 100 mammal species live in Tarangire, including giraffe, impala, lion, Cape buffalo, zebra, hartebeest, eland, dik-dik and kudu, as well as over 500 bird species, including the largest bird in the world, the Masai ostrich. Mighty baobabs and magnificent umbrella acacias form a unique backdrop for an exciting day on safari. Look forward to a real bush feeling!
In the afternoon we leave the park and drive to Karatu. Upon arrival at the lodge, you will have time to freshen up before ending the day with dinner under the stars and a good night’s sleep.
Meals: Lunch and Dinner
Accommodation: Lodge in Karatu
We take a safari vehicle to explore the famous Ngorongoro Crater. First enjoy the fantastic view from the crater rim over the huge caldera from a vantage point before heading down a steep slope to the crater floor. The Ngorongoro Crater is a unique animal paradise and is one of the seven natural wonders of Africa. On a safari here, you can observe almost all of Africa’s major animals in just a few hours. In addition to lions, wildebeests, zebras, buffaloes, elephants and gazelles, there is also a good chance of seeing the rare black rhino. The crater itself is home to over 20,000 large animals, which can leave or enter the crater freely. However, most of them stay here permanently as there is no shortage of water or food. A true natural wonder that can only be found in Africa.
After the game drive in Ngorongoro, you leave the crater and drive on to the Serengeti, the oldest and probably most famous national park in Tanzania. You cross the huge protected area and pass through the endless savannah landscape of the Serengeti Plains. On the way, you can observe a wide variety of animals and, with a bit of luck, hunting scenes. You reach your lodge in the Central Serengeti in the late afternoon. You have time to freshen up and enjoy a delicious dinner before spending another night under the sea of stars in the wilderness.
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch in the Bush, Dinner
Accommodation: Tented Lodge in Serengeti
After breakfast, you will go on a full-day game drive to various locations in the park. Morning and evening are always the best times to spot animals. In addition to the big cats, many other predators can also be spotted, including jackals and spotted hyenas. You will also have the opportunity to watch the sunrise and sunset on the plains.
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch in the Bush, Dinner
Accommodation: Tented Lodge in Serengeti
Good to know:
The name Serengeti is derived from the Maasai word siringit, which means “endless plains”. An apt description when you consider that the entire ecosystem stretches over 30,000 square kilometers! The Serengeti is one of the oldest and scientifically most important ecosystems on earth. It is believed that the weather patterns, fauna and flora have changed little over the course of a million years, giving the area a prehistoric feel.
In the morning you will go on another game drive in the Serengeti. The nocturnal animals in particular can be spotted in these early morning hours and your experienced safari guide knows where the animals prefer to be. However, you will slowly make your way out of the national park. You will pass Maasai bomas, where you can optionally visit a boma to get to know the Maasai way of life. Later, you will be transferred to Arusha airport, from where you will fly to Zanzibar with a smile and unforgettable memories of your amazing safari.
We say Kwaheri and goodbye! Thank you for choosing Afrimine Tours! We hope to see you again soon and wish you a safe journey.
