Trek Overview

The Lemosho Route is a scenic and remote way to climb Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania. Starting at 2,100 meters (6,900 feet), it takes seven to eight days to complete. The route reaches Uhuru Peak at 5,895 meters (19,341 feet), passing through forest, moorland, and alpine desert.

This route offers stunning views of waterfalls, glaciers, and ice fields. enjoy lush rainforests and alpine meadows. The Lemosho Route allows time for acclimatization, reducing the risk of altitude sickness.

ITINERARY

Start your trek from Lemosho Gate. After registering at the Kilimanjaro National Park gate, you will begin your hike through the dense forest. Look out for wildlife and enjoy the lush surroundings. After a 3-4 hour hike, you will reach Mti Mkubwa Camp. You will stay at Kilimanjaro Mountain Huts. All meals are included.

Today, you will hike from Mti Mkubwa Camp to Shira 1 Camp. The trail takes you out of the forest and into the moorland. Enjoy the wide views of the Shira Plateau. The hike takes 5-6 hours. You will stay at Kilimanjaro Mountain Huts. All meals are included.

Hike from Shira 1 Camp to Shira 2 Camp. This is a short and easy day, giving you more time to acclimatize. You will have great views of the Western Breach and the summit of Kilimanjaro. The hike takes 3-4 hours. You will stay at Kilimanjaro Mountain Huts. All meals are included.

Hike from Shira 2 Camp to Barranco Camp. The trail takes you past the Lava Tower, where you can take a break and enjoy the views. Afterward, descend into the Barranco Valley. The hike takes 6-7 hours. You will stay at Kilimanjaro Mountain Huts. All meals are included.

Today, you will hike from Barranco Camp to Karanga Camp. The trail starts with the Barranco Wall, a steep but fun climb. After the wall, the path becomes easier. The hike takes 4-5 hours. You will stay at Kilimanjaro Mountain Huts. All meals are included.

Hike from Karanga Camp to Barafu Camp. This is a shorter day, giving you more time to rest and prepare for the summit attempt. The hike takes 3-4 hours. You will stay at Kilimanjaro Mountain Huts. All meals are included.

Begin your final ascent to Uhuru Peak around midnight. Reach Stella Point at sunrise, then continue to Uhuru Peak, the highest point in Africa. After enjoying the views, descend back to Barafu Camp for breakfast and rest, then continue down to Mweka Camp. The ascent takes 6-8 hours, and the descent takes 4-6 hours. You will stay at Kilimanjaro Mountain Huts. All meals are included.

On your last day, hike back down to Mweka Gate. The trail goes through the forest, and after 3-4 hours, you will reach the gate. At the gate, your guide will arrange your certificates, and our driver will take you back to your hotel for a hot shower and celebration. You will stay at Ngare Sero Mountain Lodge. All meals are included
